Mijas

Mijas is the village known as the “Villa Blanca” or “white town” on the Costa del Sol. It is located in the hills near Fuengirola. It is a typical Spanish village with a modern twist and therefore has an incredible appeal for anyone looking for the traditional Spanish experience with a difference while staying on the Costa del Sol.

Mijas has transformed from a small farming village to a town with a modern appeal and an ‘old town’ feel. It is home to the historical ‘donkey taxi’ and the unusually oval bull ring. It is an incredibly picturesque town with unbelievable views of the beach and coast, an 18 hole golf course built by a world-famous golfer and a very well known spa in the Byblos Andaluz Hotel. Historically speaking, it also has many monuments like the small folk museum located in the town, the 18th Century Church ‘Iglesia de Santa Ana’, the ‘Iglesia of San Sebastian’ and the complex network of small streets lined with shops filled with artisan products satisfy those looking for a historical, cultural yet fun experience.

This town has beauty and charm and anyone visiting the Costa del Sol should definitely visit it during their stay. If staying in Mijas, it is recommended to visit its neighbouring towns: Fuengirola  and Benalmadena. The best way to reach these is by car.
