Benalmádena, named by the Arabs that once settled there is a tourism hot-spot, like the neighboring Torremolinos. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol reaching a peak population of over 60,000 people during the summer. This is mainly because of its location: it is located between the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas and the Sea and occupies a short yet stunning coastal strip.
Benalmádena consists of a quaint and bustling village located in the north with incredible views of the sea and the historic and traditional architecture. Then, there is Arroyo de la Miel where the majority of the population lives which is beside the sea. It has numerous tourist attractions like a cable-car and an amusement park which is known as the best in the area. Finally, Benalmádena Costa, the area closest to the sea is the area where the most tourist facilities are.
There are numerous hotels, a casino, golf courses, recreational port, etc. There is also a Neoarabic Castle called Bil-Bil Castle located on the sea front which is a major architectural attraction in the area.
If staying in Benalmádena, it is recommended to visit its neighboring towns: Fuengirola and Torremolinos. The best way to reach these is by car.
