This town is located in the south-eastern zone of the Malaga province and only 25 kilometres from Malaga city. Velez Malaga has over 20 kilometres of beautiful coastline and a very mild climate. It is currently one of the Costa del Sol’s fastest growing towns.
The town’s infrastructure is greatly influenced by its Muslim history and the most renowned landmark associated with this era is the Moorish hill top fortress La Fortaleza which is located in the old district of the town. Other interesting places to visit while staying in Velez-Malaga are the Plaza de las Carmelitas which houses the Town Hall and the historical Convent that was founded in 1669 and contains many historical paintings and artefacts that are well worth seeing.
