Alhaurin el Grande
Alhaurin el Grande is located at the foot of the La Sierra de Mijas mountain range and opens out onto the valley of Guadalhorce. It has a population of approximately 18,000 people and is brimming with fertile, lush lands filled with fruit and olive trees.
Among its historical monuments is El Arco del Cobertizo, a Muslim era arch which is ornately beautiful. There is also the Church of Nuestra Sta. De la Encarnacion which was built in the 17th Century and the Moorish mill of Los Corchos. Alhaurin el Grande’s most famous celebration is el Romeria: a pilgrimage that takes place every year.
